I continue to receive calls related to traffic, speeding, noise disturbances, drug houses, etc.
I also continue to receive calls about prostitution. I have been meeting with City Staff to get a contemporary update on this issue as we need to continually look at ways of solving this. I strongly encourage residents to report any and all issues to the Hamilton Police Service and if necessary, my office.
You can report issues through the non-emergency switchboard line at 905-546-4925 or Crime Stoppers Hamilton if you wish to remain anonymous at 905-522-8477. In the event you feel you need to speak to me or my office, do not hesitate to do so at 905-546-2702. |

On October 1, 2009 CityHousing Hamilton (CHH) officially took over First Place portfolio from the Court Appointed Receiver, Mintz & Partners. CityHousing Hamilton and St. Joseph’s Home Care now provide all staffing for property management and food services in the 3C restaurant and 2C dining room for the Assisted Living Residents. St. Joseph’s Home Care is also responsible for providing personal care support services to seniors requiring an added level of care.
CityHousing Hamilton recreational staff is in place to ensure that all Recreation Services are not interrupted with the transition. With the funds that were approved for CityHousing Hamilton through the SHRRP (Social Housing Renovation & Retrofit Program), we are planning on undertaking the following capital work in 2010 for First Place: elevator modernization, roof replacement and investigation of the Heating and Cooling systems. The new intercom system has been recently installed and new fire-rated benches add a pleasing component to each hallway. Building cosmetic work such as painting, carpeting and other aesthetic work is planned for the future. It is important that we continue to work together to make First Place a home our seniors are happy and proud to live in. |

Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre
|
|
Preliminary work continues on the re-development of Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre. The City has retained a consulting firm, which is presently gathering the background information regarding the Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre. The data will help to provide the additional programs and amenities required at the facility. Recreation staff will be hosting a Public Information Session in early 2010 for area residents. The project’s timeline will also take into consideration the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board’s decision regarding the Sanford Avenue School and their future plans for the site. |
